Hamza Meddeb is a nonresident scholar at the Carnegie Middle East Center, where his research focuses on economic reform, political economy of conflicts, and border insecurity across the Middle East and North Africa. He is also an assistant professor at the South Mediterranean University (SMU) in Tunis. Hamza’s research interests lie at the intersection of political economy, security studies, and sociopolitical dynamics in Tunisia and North Africa, as well as EU-Mediterranean relations and the growing activism of non-Euro-Mediterranean actors in the Mediterranean. He holds a PhD from the Institute of Political Studies at Science Po, Paris.
Hamza is s Research Lead for XCEPT at the Carnegie Middle East Center. He leads research by the X-Border Local Research Network on Tunisia’s borders.
